Thank you, solid state!

So I'm trudging up the stairs, my iPad and a few other things in hand. Upon reaching the top, I lost my grip on the iPad. It fell to the top step and tumbled, bouncing from step to step, all the way to bottom!

It wears a polyurethane cover on the back and the Apple magic cover on the front. The stairs have padded carpet on them.

I retrieved it. No damage. Still working perfectly. I am using it now.

No way on earth a hard drive would have survived that. No way at all.

For quite a while Apple has had a sensor in their computers that turns off the hard drive and parks the head when a drop is detected.

Still, solid state storage is quite good. I had it back in the 80s for my laptop, nice to see it coming back.
