(146,218 posts)I really like my MacBook Pro. It's the bottom of the line (cheapest) but has everything I need.
The font is very easy to change, plus the touch pad makes it super easy to zoom in on something you can't see well.
Can't help you with the music programs - not my thing.
Fast, reliable, stable, light - I couldn't ask for more.

(21,105 posts)Nothing close sadly.
My friend bought a new one on ebay.com. Not sure if this is a good place to buy a new one from.
Glad to know the font is easy to change and that the touch pad actually works!

(146,218 posts)The touch pad is great.
I accidentally spilled some wine in mine , but they were able to replace it fairly easily.

(38,958 posts)many of them have Mac kiosks, which while not an Apple Store is better than nuthin. Best Buy also has some extended financing available which might be of help. I know I use it for all my big electronic buys. I like using their money, rather than mine. Another option is a place called Micro Center which has an Apple department.

(21,105 posts)This is costing more and more.
The CD/DVD drive is $79.00. Recommended to upgrade to the 2.3 processor (another $90.00).
Music keyboard is $149.00.
Steel case needed I was told - another $50.00.
Ethernet connection thing ... Who'd have (not me !)
I'm well over my limit now.
Discover will finance me at 1.9% for 6 mos.
Wish I was rich!! (lol ...)
Thanks for letting me know -- not a wireless connection here!

(48,219 posts)Anyway, it looks as if they have raised the prices on the 15" computers.
Is there any reason why you want a laptop rather than a desktop? Because their desktops are cheaper and have huge screens.
Also, even if there is no Apple Store near you, there are independent stores that specialize in Apple. I know there was one in Portland (The Computer Store, don't know if it still exists), and there still is one in Minneapolis (First Tech Computer). They often have new but discontinued models for sale.
I have a 2011-vintage, 15" Macbook Pro, and I haven't found any limitations yet.

(21,105 posts)I live in a rural area.
We should be praising God that there is a Costco here!
Sad reality in rural areas. No more nothing no where!
Nearest place you could buy one is about 150 miles away I guess.
Would like a desktop too but my real need right now is a laptop that works.

(20,886 posts)On sale now at the site. I got mine from Amazon for $123 several years ago. Mine are not wireless, however, which may account for the cost difference. You will be amazed at the sound.
