Related: About this forumIs there an easy way to password iphotos?
I am new to my macbook, but love it. I do have some pictures I would rather not have other people view. Is there an app for this or is it built in?
Thanks from a mac newbie

(3,342 posts)1. Encrypt the whole thing
Under Security in Preferences, you can encrypt your home folder, or your whole hard drive.
But if you do this, remember to save that key.
Note, this can cause some slower performance unless you have a newer MacBook with the Core i5 processor with hardware encryption support.
I will try this when I get home. It is a pretty new but I am not sure of the processor.
Any way thanks a lot for the help.

(20,353 posts)3. You could try this app to password protect your iPhoto library:

Note: I haven't tested this software myself so make a copy of your library before using it.

I passworded the whole computer, but would rather just protect the photos. Thanks for the tip.
