Digital camera won't take a charge
The battery shaped icon is red and just blinks, so I think it's not charging. Would a new battery fix the problem?
Also, I bought a used computer from a local computer guy. It would not read the SD card from my game cams. It did not even show that a drive was being used. I brought it back and he agreed the reader is not working. He gave me a separate scandisk reader. I plug it in and it lights up. I put in the SD card and that lights up. My computer makes some noises, but I don't see any indication of where the pics are going. I click on "my pc" and it does not show any external drives.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

(261 posts)Sorry, couldn't resist. Which OS? Is this your personal PC or a company PC? Do you see Unknown devices in your Device Manager?

(576 posts)I taught high school and every time computer, printer, smartboard, etc., didn't work, my go to was to turn off, then back on!
Anyway, I feel like maybe something is wrong with the cord for the scandisk reader? I can attach digital camera with its cord to see photos and that works. I played around again with scandisk reader today. I was watching "my PC" where it showed C and F (CD) drives. Very briefly, the drive showed up as USB for the scandisk and quickly went away. I couldn't even get it to do that again.

(261 posts)It's possible you have a fluky driver from you USB ports.

(18,260 posts)And check for dirt or corrosion on the little metal bits on the bottom of the battery. It can be cleaned off easily.
Another reason is the damned little USB C plug that you plug the charging cable into. The aluminium surround of the port gets bent and loose and the plug doesn't connect properly. Maybe try your cable with a bit of silver foil around it.
The batteries are expensive, and I've had both these problems on underwater cameras.

Keep in mind, don't format an SD card in your computer, unless you are only going to use if in computers. Format it in the camera.
