Getting a lot of unfamiliar texts

They appear to be wrong numbers...usually someone posing as someone needing a response...waiting for you at the airport, need to feed your pet...

Some of them are looking for sexual meet-ups with messages like "I had fun last night".

I do not respond to these and block the number. I can not believed they have my interests at heart. Are these just bots trying to verify that a random number is good?

Just curious about what else might be at risk if I answer.

Always curious about how electronic scams work.

They pump out thousands of texts every day. If only a small percentage respond they still make money.

The scam cannot be completed if you don't answer back.

A lot of it is just testing to see if you are there, so they can add you to more advertising lists.
