"SNIP........
Blaming Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for creating a mess, Premier Doug Fords new Progressive Conservative government has withdrawn Ontarios co-operation with Ottawa over asylum-seekers.
But Trudeau emerged from a 40-minute meeting with Ford at Queens Park suggesting the rookie premier does not understand the complexities behind the migrant crisis currently straining Toronto shelter resources.
........
It didnt seem to me that the premier was quite as aware of our international obligations to the UN Convention on Refugees as he might have been, the prime minister told reporters Thursday, after the leaders first official meeting.
So I spent a little time explaining how the asylum-seeking system works and how our system is supposed to operate, said Trudeau.

Give 'em hell Doug. I'd vote for Doug if he decided to run for PM of Canada. This is the person we've needed in this country for years.

(3,321 posts)(I voted NDP) but I'm pretty happy that Chrystia Freeland is my MP. She's doing a good job in a very hard role. She's had to stand up against the Trump protectionist machine and has kept her poise in the face of strong resistance to cooperation.
