Charlie Angus: MY WARNING TO CANADIANS: DO NOT TRAVEL TO TRUMP LAND

Charlie Angus - MY WARNING TO CANADIANS: DO NOT TRAVEL TO TRUMP LAND

A Chilling New Reality at the Border

A woman dragged away by border guards and chained in an unheated cell for days.

Professors, doctors, and students are forced to give over their phones to be examined for possible "subversive" comments about the government.

People arbitrarily seized and deported despite court rulings that demand fair process.

This is the stuff of a totalitarian nightmare. It's not something you would imagine in a democratic nation. But this is the reality of life in Trump's America.

And this is why I went to Canada's Parliament to issue a travel warning to Canadian citizens: avoid all unnecessary travel to the USA.

I was 14 so I couldn't enter Canada without a parent. They called my Mom and she had to drive 30 miles to pick me up. But they were nice to me and fed me a roast beef sandwich, chips and a soda. (I skipped school so I was in more trouble that day then the Canadians taking me into custody when I arrived home.)

Sadly, I don't think our customs people are capable of being empathetic to people they detain,

To Detroit. We just wanted to go to the sculpture park in Windsor and say “we’ve been to Canada!”

It never occurred to me how odd that looked. We were stopped at the border, car searched, asked about weapons, and my husband called at home because I was crossing the border with 2 minors and not In possession of a letter from indicating his understanding of our crossing.

Astonishingly, they let us in.

Entering into the Homeland Security office means you understand that you could be detained and they would not have to disclose that you are being held. As a rule before we enter this type of facility we call a family member to notify our location and when we get back to our car we let that person know that we are no longer in the facility. We leave phones in the car. It’s been a long run but with this guy ‘running the show’ it’s more important than ever to protect yourself. We have met some good officers over the years bout we have dealt with some very very sketchy ones just the same. Stay safe!💗

we have some little Trump wannabes patrolling the border and feeling like they have lots of power. The situation is ripe for abuse.

His decision not to seek re-election was made prior to this debacle. Can we get him to stay?
Or to keep being a beacon of sanity and hope?
