La Crosse school board president (R) loses re-election bid by 36 votes

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — La Crosse Board of Education President Deb Suchla lost her re-election bid Tuesday by 36 votes, according to unofficial election results.

Suchla was edged out by incumbent Scott Neumeister (D), who received 6,286 votes compared to Suchla's 6,250 votes.

Three candidates secured board positions: Trevor Sprague led with 6,934 votes, followed by newcomer Loretta Hass with 6,454 votes and Neumeister with 6,286 votes.

Suchla served on the board from 2001-2018, returned in 2023, and became president in 2025. Jake Williams received 5,800 votes and Lee Weis garnered 2,602 votes.
