Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway spoke at the end of the press conference today, and she was awesome. The names of the dead and injured (except for the shooter) have not been released. Most of them are minors.
"It is absolutely none of yall's business who was harmed in this incident, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway told reporters asking about the identities of the victims.
Please, have some human decency and respect for the people who lost loved ones or were injured themselves or whose children were injured, she said. Police say 15-year-old student Natalie Rupnow opened fire at Abundant Life Christian School on Monday shortly before 11 a.m. local time. Rupnow died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

(18,505 posts)The press just kept pushing. Police chief Barnes had asked that people stop repeating things on social media. Even the "manifesto" has not been validated as hers at this point. Barnes also had to correct what he said about a second grader making the 1st 911 call. Actually it was the teacher in the second grade classroom, which is right next to the room where the shooting happened. Anyway, she kept saying no and at one point said, you can go home now - like all you out of state press, please don't hang around waiting for names.
Holding back the names is respectful, especially when the press are hovering like vultures.

(18,505 posts)join the local gun club with her. Don't teach her to golf or play tennis, or something like that - teach her to shoot before she is even old enough to drive.
(That's what her father did.)

(20,366 posts)A second grader called 911. They cant even get the info they have right as they jump to conclusions for you heard it first here, folks 💩. When will our elected realized the common denominator in all of these murders are GUNS. And yes, Im shouting the word because no one is talking about this plague and what the cure is..it is not making our schools, places of worship, grocery stores and such a fortress..other democracies have figured it out.

(18,505 posts)The second grade classroom was right next to the library, where the shooting happened.
There was a mass casualty/first responder training going on 3 miles away, so the first responders got there in a very short time. But the shooter had already offed herself.
Everyone is talking about the gun crisis. But its the Republican legislators who have to be willing to change. And the gun culture has got to back off. Instead of making it easier and easier to get guns and ammo, it needs to be more difficult.
