Macy's to close another Seattle-area store

Macy's Inc. (NYSE: M) has announced the closure of its Furniture Clearance Center at 17855 Southcenter Parkway in Tukwila. The move comes as the New York-based retail giant looks to scale back its physical footprint nationwide amid headwinds.

The store is one of 14 Macy's locations reportedly shuttering nationwide.

Macy's has closed several Seattle-area department stores in recent years, most notably its 90-year-old downtown Seattle location in 2019, as well as stores at Northgate and Redmond Town Center. Last year, Macy's also shuttered its furniture outlet in Redmond, along with department stores in Puyallup and Silverdale.

The company continues to operate eight other Puget Sound-area locations, including department stores at Westfield Southcenter, Alderwood, Bellevue Square and the Tacoma Mall.
