Rory O'Sullivan launches campaign to replace Republican Ann Davison as Seattle City Attorney
Incumbent Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison has drawn her first challenger, and it isn’t even 2025 yet, signaling that Seattle voters will have credible alternatives next year when they decide who they want their chief law enforcement officer to be.
Rory O’Sullivan, forty-six, is a well-known lawyer and activist who is held in high regard within Democratic circles. The glowing profile he got from The Stranger to back the launch of his candidacy today is evidence of that. His resume is outstanding. I’ve known him for many years and have enjoyed our interactions. He’s thoughtful and earnest.
O’Sullivan’s background is in housing law, and he believes in restorative justice.
I expect he’ll be a prolific fundraiser and could build the kind of electoral coalition that Alexis Mercedes Rinck did this year, emerging as Tanya Woo’s general election challenger with the support of Democratic district organizations across the city.
