Cornish College of the Arts sells Kerry Hall, its last building on Capitol Hill

Seattle Theatre Group paid $6 million for the landmark Kerry Hall, according to a sales affidavit that King County posted Friday.

The sale caps a tumultuous seven months at Cornish College of the Arts, which sold the 103-year-old Capitol Hill building that was the home of founder Nellie Cornish.

Seattle Theatre Group, which owns and operates three historic theaters in the city — the Paramount, Moore and Neptune — as well as an outdoor venue at Remlinger Farms in Carnation, plans educational and performance programs for the iconic building at 710 E. Roy St.

"Kerry Hall has fostered immeasurable creativity and innovation in the arts for close to 100 years, and I’m proud that STG will continue Cornish’s legacy,” Marisol Sanchez Best, STG’s director of education and community engagement, said in a press release.
