Apartment developer eyes large project for Ballard's Market Street

A sale is in the works on a parcel in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood that would clear the way for a 250-unit, eight-story apartment building across the street from Swedish Ballard Medical Center.

Holland Acquisition Co., LLC, a division of Vancouver, Washington-based Holland Partner Group (HPG), is listed as the property contract buyer of 1740 NW Market St., according to a Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections document from Sept. 25. A shuttered FedEx Office one-story retail store stands at the site.

Documents indicate HPG could go beyond a single-parcel purchase.

A plan submitted for early design guidance with the city of Seattle shows a project that spans four adjacent parcels along Northwest Market Street. The most notable property is the former Ballard Blossom site at 1766 NW Market St.
