Police: Man impersonating Edmonds officer pulls over citizen
EDMONDS — A police impersonator claiming to be an Edmonds officer pulled over a citizen, police said.
Around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, a man in a black Jeep with a push bar and flashing lights and sirens stopped a vehicle at Olympic View Drive and Talbot Road, according to Edmonds police. The man was wearing a vest that said “sheriff” and claimed to be a police officer.
The citizen questioned the man, who got back into his car and drove off, police said.
Edmonds officers confirmed Thursday they do not have a black Jeep patrol vehicle. No similar instances had been reported, Edmonds Cmdr. Shane Hawley said.
