Challenger Michael French (D) easily wins runoff to be New Braunfels mayor

Challenger Michael French has easily defeated incumbent Neal Linnartz (R) in the runoff to be the next mayor of New Braunfels, closing out a controversial election cycle that drew unwanted headlines for the Hill Country city.

French, a businessman and former military intelligence analyst, captured 6,135 votes, or 62.4%, to 3,696 v.otes, or 37.6%, for Linnartz, according to Comal County and Guadalupe County election officials. New Braunfels spans parts of both counties.

French said winning the election is “unreal” and that he was humbled by the support he received from voters.
