SPOTLIGHT RACE: Josh Wallenstein for TX-HD133

Josh Wallenstein is the Democratic nominee for State Representative in House District 133. He aims to deliver practical, common-sense leadership that focuses on what matters most: keeping families safe, lowering costs, and protecting taxpayers. A business attorney and ethics professional, Josh has spent his career negotiating complex deals, rooting out corruption, and finding win-win solutions that help businesses succeed. In the Texas House, he will apply that same approach to strengthen our economy, support public education, and ensure families aren’t paying more for less.

Over the past two decades, Josh has worked across industries and continents to help businesses grow with integrity. Today, he runs his own Houston-based business law firm, where he understands firsthand the challenges small business owners face. That experience has shaped his commitment to policies that make it easier for businesses to thrive and families to get ahead without higher taxes or unnecessary red tape.

Beyond his professional work, Josh has been a dedicated community leader in Houston. He has served on the HISD Capital Planning Steering Committee, where he helped guide investments in local schools, and has participated in Leadership Houston, the Center for Houston’s Future, and the West Houston Democrats. His service reflects his belief that strong communities are built through collaboration, pragmatism, and putting people over politics.

Josh and his wife, a marriage and family therapist, are raising their child in Houston. Like many families in HD 133, they want safe neighborhoods, strong schools, and an economy that provides opportunity without driving up costs. That’s why Josh is stepping forward to serve: to fight for policies that improve education, expand access to health care, and strengthen Texas’ economy — all while protecting taxpayers and ensuring every family has a chance to get ahead.
