2026 Election Update: Judge Kelly won't run, primary candidates signing up

Kerr County’s leadership will be shifting in 2027 like a game of musical chairs with the top executive office of county judge opening up and several primary contests taking shape.

Judge Rob Kelly said he announced a few months ago at a meeting of the Alamo Area Council on Governments his decision not to run for a third term.

At present, no candidate has announced for the spring primary. The window for applying for candidacy in the Kerr County primaries runs from Nov. 8 to Dec. 15.

In addition to Kelly, officials who will not run again include County Court at Law Judge Susan Harris, Precinct 4 County Commissioner Don Harris, Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Kathy Mitchell, Precinct 4 JP Bill Ragsdale, County Clerk Nadene Alford and Democratic Chair Lynette Wedig.
