I just found out

I just found out that I was given the wrong ballot. I thought my congressman was Dan Crenshaw but the ballot I was given had Sheila Jackson Lee. I would have liked to vote against Dan Crenshaw. Anything I can do? Sheila’s district is solid. She doesn’t need my vote.

I went to the website Harris Votes and put my address in and it showed me in Crenshaw’s district. Is the website wrong or was the ballot wrong?

Is your mailing address different than your voting address? Lots of people move without updating their voter registration. They may think their address is the new address, but it's really an old address. It's about 25% of the population where I live. Many times, this can go on for at least 30 years or longer.

Oh and depending on the source that you look at, it may indicate your old district because the new district does not go into effect until after the election.

I believe the SOS lists current districts! I'm still listed in Castro's cuz he's my guy until January 1st, but I had to vote against that Repuke Tony Gonzales. Gosh, I dread having an R as my congressional rep.

The worker there said she couldn't address what was actually on the ballot, and I went ahead and voted.

When I checked online, it said my rep was the one I knew. So I called the elections office, who told me that my area was redistricted, but that it wouldn't take effect until January. So the website was correct until then.

It was alarming. I don't know how I missed the redistricting announcement. (And no one seems to be campaigning for that job in my area. Dunno why.) But now I have a strong chance to end up with a Democratic progressive rep, so I'm thrilled.

The GOP packed them into safe districts. This eliminated Democrats from GOP leaning seats. Joaquin Castro was redistricted where he won every single precinct in 2020. The ones he didn't win, got put into a Republican district.

From Crenshaw to Jackson Lee. We got two new congressional districts due to the census. So there was some rearranging. It didn't keep the districts from looking like ink blot tests though.

I’m 299. I googled my sample ballot. So I guess I voted in the correct district, maybe.

I just don’t think the margin of victory is going to be close in her district. It never is.
