Catholic deacon suspended following sex charge
http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/mar/05/catholic-deacon-suspended-following-sex-charge/CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — The Diocese of Knoxville has temporarily suspended a deacon in Chattanooga who's been arrested on a charge of aggravated sexual battery against a minor.
A statement from the diocese Monday afternoon said Bishop Richard F. Stika has suspended Thomas McConnell pending the outcome of a police investigation.
According to WRCB-TV in Chattanooga (http://bit.ly/A4pCAF), the 65-year-old McConnell was involved in ministering to prison and jail inmates in his post at St. Jude Catholic Church.
