EMILYs List Invests in Keeping Harrisburg Out of the GOP's Hands

Pennsylvania is a key focus of EMILYs List investment ahead of the 2026 mid-term elections.

The liberal political action committee aims to build Democratic governing state majorities nationwide, with a $15 million investment to support pro-choice progressive women for elected office.

“The Republican chaos coming out of Washington is wreaking havoc on Pennsylvanians. Democrats need governing power in order to hold the line against Republicans’ assault on the economy, our health care, and our everyday lives,” said group President Jessica Mackler. “EMILYs List is taking an aggressive approach to building Democrats’ state power in Pennsylvania with bold candidates who know exactly what’s at stake.”

The PAC, which focuses on electing pro-choice women candidates, wants to expand Democrats’ one-seat majority in the state House and gain seats in the GOP-controlled state Senate. The goal is to provide support for a legislative partnership with Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro.
