AP: Pennsylvania state Sen. Aument is leaving office to work for McCormick

Updated 4:56 PM EST, December 10, 2024

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A state senator from Lancaster County will leave his seat in Pennsylvania’s Legislature to go work for the state’s newly elected U.S. senator, officials said Tuesday.

Sen. Ryan Aument, a Republican, intends to resign before the new legislative session begins Jan. 3 to become Sen.-elect David McCormick’s state director. Aument has served as the caucus whip for the Senate Republican majority for the past two years.

He was elected to the state House of Representatives in 2010 and to the Senate in 2014. He was serving his third Senate term in a heavily Republican district.

Once Aument officially resigns, Lt. Gov. Austin Davis will have 10 days to schedule a special election to fill the remaining two years of Aument’s four-year term that runs through January 2027.

I just spotted this story. I have seen this guy in action (watching PCN every once in awhile) and he is truly a nasty piece of work. It will be good to scrape this scum out of the Senate (unfortunately his district is red).

What was notable in the past was when Aument lead the push to not certify a Democratic state Senator who won his race in Allegheny County after the 2020 election -
