New stroke ruled out after Fetterman hospitalized for lightheadedness

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sen. John Fetterman, the Pennsylvania Democrat who suffered a stroke during his campaign last year that almost killed him, was hospitalized Wednesday night after feeling lightheaded. His office said late Thursday that later tests made clear he hasn’t suffered another stroke.

Testing at George Washington University Hospital that ruled out a new stroke included magnetic resonance imaging among other procedures, Fetterman spokesman Joe Calvello said in a statement.

Mr. Fetterman “is being monitored with an EEG for signs of seizure - so far there are no signs of seizure, but he is still being monitored,” Mr. Calvello said Thursday evening. “We will continue to provide information as it comes in, and we will have more updates as we get them.”

The senator went to the hospital for observation after feeling lightheaded during a retreat for Senate Democrats, Mr. Fetterman’s spokesman stated late Wednesday. He was “in good spirits and talking with his staff and family,” Mr. Calvello said in that previous statement.

I thought he was the new hope for the party. But I’m growing extremely concerned for both his health and long term viability. We really need him in PA.

Maybe he just skipped breakfast, or who knows?

Now that we know it's not a stroke, we can ease off a little bit.

I am on 4 different bp meds and I deal with light headedness all the time. My doctor has adjusted the meds several times and presently I am in a good place with maybe just a couple episodes a week. We do not know for sure but if the senator had a stroke the possibility of him being on blood thinners and bp meds would be very high. No matter how many times you have had it light headedness is difficult to adjust to and can be very scary.
