His family would be well known there. McCormick was also a state high school wrestling champion in an area where wrestling is big, big deal.

For someone who made it through medical school, he sure is pretty clueless. According to the latest news, McCormick is only leading by 9 points, so it depends on the mail-in ballots yet to be counted and there's a likelihood of a recount.
