Related: About this forumTimberline closed Friday after fire at historic lodge - Apr 19, 2024
The historic Timberline lodge was built during the depression by crews of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and, famously, it's exterior image was used to depict the haunted Overlook hotel in the horror film The Shining.
Check out it's history page here: https://www.timberlinelodge.com/about-us/history
It is a national treasure and thankfully the fire was small and contained.

Beautiful building, glad the fire was contained. Strangely the Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge at Olympic NP WA burned down last May.

He went snowboarding and we all had dinner at the awesome (4 star?) restaurant. Touring the interior to see all the awesome artwork was a real experience.

The 1970s and 80s, it would be a tragedy is it burned. Glad this one was spared a lot of damage. There are several of those sort of grand hotel/lodges in my area and they are all made from timber.
