Oklahoma Senate approves bill to allow insurance to be sold across state lines

A bill that would allow insurance to be sold across state lines was approved Thursday by the state Senate.

Senate Bill 478 will now go to the House for consideration.

The Senate passed the bill 41-0 after changes were made in committee so that out-of-state companies that sell policies to Oklahomans will be required to cover all medical conditions mandated by Oklahoma state law.

If approved by the House and governor, the bill would let the Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner enter into agreements with other states that allow cross-border insurance sales.
