'Voter enthusiasm is off the charts' as 193,000 Ohioans cast in-person votes in first week
Ohio voters are casting in-person early ballots for the 2020 election at three times the pace they set in 2016.
In the first week since early voting began, 193,021 Ohioans have cast ballots at early voting centers in Ohio's 88 counties, compared to 63,312 at the same point four years ago, Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced in a press release. So far this year, early voting in Franklin County has more than doubled compared with 2016 as more than 20,000 voters cast early ballots.
Nearly 2.5 million Ohioans also have requested absentee ballots by mail, about double the number of requests three weeks before election day in 2016.
Ohio has about 8 million registered voters. In 2016, about 94% of absentee ballots requested were actually cast in the election.
