Johnson campaign asks stations to dump radio ad for Kunze

Senate Democrats are trying to convince radio stations around Columbus to pull an ad attacking Senate candidate Cathy Johnson, arguing it makes false claims about education spending and taxes.

The ad accuses Johnson, a retired teacher and president of the South-Western Board of Education, of wanting to raise taxes on communities in the 16th Senate District and ship that money to schools in Youngstown or southeastern Ohio.

Johnson’s campaign sent stations a cease and desist letter arguing the claims are false. The ad was paid for by the Republican Senate Campaign Committee on behalf of Rep. Stephanie Kunze, R-Hilliard.

“It’s bad enough that Stephanie Kunze has refused to denounce Donald Trump for his attacks on women. Now she’s lying to voters,” Johnson said.
