ROCKY MOUNT -- Former President Bill Clinton kicked off a two-day campaign bus tour of Eastern North Carolina Tuesday, denouncing Republican Donald Trump and his slogan without once mentioning the billionaire by name.
Im a white southerner I know what Make America Great Again means, and all of you of a certain age know exactly what it means, Clinton told a mostly African-American crowd gathered in a Rocky Mount parking lot. I didnt fall off this truck yesterday, Ive heard this song a long time. It means first, Ill give you the economy you had 50 years ago, and second, Ill give you the society you had 50 years ago: Ill move you up and move somebody else down.
Clinton introduced as Americas next first gentleman by attorney general and gubernatorial candidate Roy Cooper promoted Hillary Clintons economic and education proposals during the stop, which was followed by rallies in Goldsboro and Greenville.
Hell continue the visit Wednesday with stops in Pembroke, Wilmington and Fayetteville as Hillary Clintons campaign ramps up its schedule of high-profile speakers coming to North Carolina. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren was scheduled to speak at Meredith College in Raleigh, and former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean will be at UNC-Chapel Hill and N.C. State on Wednesday. Hillary Clinton will be joined by first lady Michelle Obama Thursday for a rally at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem.

(10,501 posts)...thought when I heard the slogan "Make America Great Again" and I'm not even Southern. Media is correct when then point out anger against economic changes - but they do not point out the equal (greater?) appeal of bigotry in that slogan - it means "Go Back" to an America where there was no Gay marriage, where Blacks "know their place" and Women were objects.
