N.C. elections board denies GOP effort to toss 60,000 votes in close state Supreme Court race

The North Carolina state Board of Elections voted Wednesday to reject a Republican challenge to throw out 60,000 ballots in a state Supreme Court race that the Democratic incumbent leads by just over 700 votes.

The board, where Democrats have a 3-2 edge, could now move to certify the victory by Democrat Allison Riggs, eliminating a major hurdle for the party in the contested race.

NBC News has not yet projected a winner in the race.

Riggs, who was appointed to the state Supreme Court in 2023, emerged from Election Day with a narrow lead over Republican Jefferson Griffin, a state appeals court judge, triggering two recounts.

A full machine recount showed Riggs leading Griffin by 734 votes. A second, partial hand recount of the race increased Riggs’ lead marginally, but that total is not considered official by North Carolina's elections board. More than 5.5 million ballots were cast in the race.

We hold an election.

Person A wins.

Person B calls for a recount.

Recount shows that person A won by even more than originally tallied.

Person B demand another recount.

Recount two shows that first recount was wrong. Person A won by even more votes than the first two tallies.

Now, how much is anyone willing to bet that even this will not be enough to stop them from contesting over and over?

What did Einstein say about insanity? Do we need any more evidence of just how crazy these people are?

And, why are we letting them keep on with this crap How about some arrests for election interference.? How is what they are doing any different from other forms of interference? How many times should we allow them to gum up the works with all the evidence pointing to the fact that they lost, once there has been a lawful recount and that backs up the original decision?

Why are we letting them do this every time one of the rethugs gets butthurt over losing an election?

(Since these questions are pretty much rhetorical, I am not actually looking for answers, but please feel free to offer one!)
