Boy howdy things have been hectic! The clinic director comes into my office and informs me due to covid they are shutting my part of the clinic down for 2 weeks, whilst I am contemplating what to do, I get a text from hospice in Florida my 93 y/o pops is near death. Now I am really contemplating shit. This was on the 10th
I really didn't want to fly but did anyway as I am the executor of his estate and etc, The nursing home bent their COVID rules and let me say good-bye. He had advanced dementia and it was his time. then an hour after leaving the nursing place I get a phone call from the nursing home: " 3 of our employees have tested positive for covid" Great just great, just off a plane, to florida and visit an infected nursing home. Pops died that night. I should be fine but basically am in isolation as a precaution
Whilst all that was going down, COVID went afire on the Rez.and the county as well. As of yesterday there are 27 cases just on the Agency .Again its a small agency and at risk population. People are not handling it well and unfortunately freaking out, panicking and accusing folks, rumors are rampant etc.
The Tribal chairman had to make a plea for everyone to chill the heck out. And of course my colleagues in the clinic are overwhelmed and catching hell as well ( One of the infected folks is a clinic employee) No word on the degree of sickness and there have been no deaths
Just today the tribe issued a complete 72 hour lockdown, you can't go out but for extreme emergency and the Agency borders are closed

(24,087 posts)Even though he was 93...it is never easy to lose a parent.
Please keep us posted on whats happening at home. I wish we could have found a way to keep MT back where we were in April in terms of Covid cases. I cannot believe the numbers of our of state license plates on the road here in Western MT. Unbelievable.

(93,444 posts)the passing of a parent is major. My mom is the same age and we never know when she's going to go. We;ve had issues with her being moved to different facilities during this pandemic, it's hard.
I do hope you test negative through all this and that things calm down around the agency. I'm in a tourist corridor and we have too many out of staters and our active cases doubles every six days the past three weeks in our county... I am reluctant to go shopping any more.
Take care and stay safe.
