China files $50B lawsuit against Missouri: Hanaway

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway announced on Tuesday that China has filed a $50 billion lawsuit against the Show-Me State.

Filed on behalf of the People’s Government of Wuhan Municipality, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Wuhan Institute of Virology, the complaint declares Missouri to be an “economic and reputational threat to the People’s Republic of China.”

According to the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, this filing comes after Hanaway tried to seize Chinese assets.

This historic $24 billion judgement, according to the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, alleges China for “unleashing and worsening the COVID-19 pandemic.” Hanaway says she intends to collect those funds for the state.
