Related: About this forumHow are you voting on amendments 2 and 5?
yes on both for me, it might not mean more $ for schools but it might keep spending on other things in MO
Amendment 2
They lied the first time with the "It's for the schools" no money increase went to the schools.
In the text on the ballot it says 0 to 28.9 mil. money goes to schools not public schools really how much do you think they're going to get? also
If passed it cost 660,000 and after that 5.2 mil. Annually
Amendment 5
This is not just the life ruined by and cost to the state, it changes the constitution
Please vote no and no, read the ballot, do some research, think. It's another money grab.

(24,986 posts)I don't believe the government should sanction gambling. It robs mostly the less affluent, many of whom don't understand how they're being bilked. And I'm cynical that, in Missouri, the money would actually get to the schools in the amount the proponents claim. Nor are the costs to the state as low as they claim, and there is no guarantee they would stay so low. Legalized gambling will open doors for lots of unsavory folks to our social fabric; I just don't see it being so beneficial.
On Amendment 5, I have some personal interests along the Osage River, that could be greatly harmed by that proposal. So, again, no.

(994 posts)I voted no on both gambling issues. My father said last time they said the money would go to schools but then when it passed the legislature just lowered the money they were spending on schools so the amount schools got did not change.
