A Truman State University student from St. Peters was found dead Thursday morning at a fraternity house.
Joshua Thomas, 18, was found before 5 a.m. Thursday in the Alpha Kappa Lambda house, 918 South Osteopathy Avenue in Kirksville, Mo. A junior by credit hour, this was his first year on campus as a business administration major.
Steve Farnsworth, a Kirksville deputy police chief, said the cause of death was still being investigated. But Farnsworth did say that police were not searching for any suspects.
Thomas, who lived in a dormitory, is the third student to die in the same fraternity house since August. The two others, both sophomores, died within three weeks of each other in August.

(117,939 posts)Let's face it. These are young men that are most likely living on their own in an unfamiliar environment for the first time in their lives. They are living away from their families and probably the friends that they made prior to college. In addition, if they are being exposed to more liberal ideas, and asking questions about psychology, philosophy and religion it can be challenging as well as handling more difficult classwork. I know that I had similar feelings of doubt when I went to college and tried to figure out where I fit in. I stayed an independent because maintaining my grades and scholarships were the primary concern, but I had some envy for the people that didn't have those concerns. By the time that I felt comfortable enough to think about joining a fraternity I was at the tail end of college so it didn't make much sense.
