Save MN Healthcare - From Take Action MN
(Passing on this from email alert today)... Save MN Healthcare Funding!!
"Repeal & replace" of the Affordable Care Act may be dead (again) for now but Trump and Republicans in Washington are doing everything they can to cut health care in any way they can.
At midnight on Saturday night, funding for the Children's Health Insurance Probram (CHIP) expired along with funding for Community Health Centers, threatening health care for thousands of Minnesotans who are low-income.
Now, the Trump Administration is cutting funding for MinnesotaCare, too.
Earlier this year, the Minnesota legislature passed reinsurance. The program will give hundreds of millions of dollars to health insurance companies to reduce premiums for individuals buying health insurance on MNsure and through brokers. Before it can take effect, Minnesota needs approval from Washington. Governor Dayton and legislators had insisted that any federal approval for reinsurance would preserve funding for MinnesotaCare, and federal officials had agreed. Now, the deal has gone bad.
(Got an email alert, just passing it on)
The Trump Administration is threatening to slash $369 million in funding for MinnesotaCare in exchange for reinsurance. It's a net loss for Minnesotans. And it's infuriating.
We need to protect MinnesotaCare and keep fighting for our public health care programs.
Call your Member of Congress and tell them to do the right thing: fund CHIP and Community Health Centers, and don't let Trump cut funds to MinnesotaCare.
