It's hard to imagine the Patriots playing worse than they did a week ago in Jacksonville, but Sunday night's debacle in Detroit surely represented a new low.
The Pats didn't record a first down until 3:40 remained in the second quarter. They didn't force a punt until 9:18 remained in the entire game. They were annihilated at the line of scrimmage on defense all night. For the second straight week, the Pats didn't look particularly strong or even average in any area. It was all Detroit, all the time in a 26-10 defeat.
Bradys 133 passing yards were his fewest in a full game since 2013. The offense never established any semblance of rhythm, in part because the New England defense never could get off the field.
Translation: The Pats are a mess on both sides.

(23,018 posts)It means largely the Pats are still running the same game as when Patricia ran the defense for them.
They were able to read the Pats like an open book. Belichick and Brady should have known better and Belichick even admitted as much.

(18,037 posts)then they will be 3 games down with a head to head loss.
That game will be huge for them.

(15,598 posts)Patriots. They have a lot of new players and a new defensive coach. I'm' almost never happy with their off season player moves, particularly with the players that they let go, but they always seem to make it work and land in the post season. The Pat's are also known for slow starts.

(1,341 posts)The linebackers are slow and can't cover receivers. Hightower is done.
The defensive backfield really sucks (they kept ROWE and let go of Butler!)
They have NO truly talented wide receiver (they let go of Cooks and Amendola)
They have one new receiver who can't catch the ball (Dorsett)
They have one new rookie running back who can't catch the ball (Michel)
They have a shitty offensive line that can't even block the Lions' D-line.
They can't convert on third downs.
They have a shitty defensive line with no pass rushing threat.
They can't stop the opposing team on third downs.
They have a 41 year-old QB who hates his job and his coach, and understandably so
after SB LII and lack of supporting cast.
Other than that, everything is fine.
Someone has neglected to keep the talent pool full. That would be the cheapskate GM. That would be one Bill B.
Good news is that most teams in the AFC also suck.
