stupid not to catch that connotation. If it was an attempt to be clever, it certainly fell flat as it should have. Jeez! Come on, it's 2014 not 1914.

Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell uses. They like it. Still dumb to use in a comic.

I don't even care if the Obamas use it. The idea that the connotation of watermelon with an African American President never occurred to a political cartoonist is just not plausible. And, for those who are not familiar with the Herald, it is RW. Murdoch owned it at one point, but it was right wing both before and after Murdoch.

To me, that is no different and probably worse than the watermelon-flavored toothpaste. Of course, neither is acceptable to sane humans.
