More than 150,000 Marylanders cast their ballot in person on day 1 of early voting

PERRY HALL, Md. — More than 150,000 Marylanders cast their ballot in person for November's election on day one of early voting.

Elections officials told 11 News it is possible that more Marylanders visited an early voting site on day one of the 2024 general election than the entire early voting period for the 2024 primary.

There was a line inside the Honeygo Run Community Center Gym on Friday -- a line outside and around the corner to get in the building in the first place, and another one down a hallway that connected the first two.

"It's moving quickly. It's moving quickly, and it's worth waiting anyway," one voter said. "There's a lot at stake. So, it's worth waiting if you have to."

Perry Hall is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. The population was 28,474 at the 2010 census. It is a suburb of Baltimore.

'The Honeygo Run early voting center is the busiest of Baltimore County's 11 sites, elections officials said.

It's one of the busiest in the state and a top-10 contributor to Maryland's record-setting turnout on day one of the early voting period for the election.

"You're talking about 151,000 voters, and it looks like, based on unofficial numbers, that we surpassed the eight-day total from the primary," said Jared DeMarinis, the state administrator of elections.'
