Strange weather

Is it just me or are we having a different winter? I may have to check my owner manual to start my snow blower. The roof rack is still hanging on the rack. I am not complaining but it is different.

A roof rack is used to remove snow from building roofs. It consists of a rack type head but with out spaces and extension handle that will reach eighteen to twenty feet. You reach up and drag the snow down.

I have one of those buggers too, and I've raked a hell of a lot of snow off of roofs in my time.

It has been an unusual winter. Much warmer than normal in the northeast. We had no snow on the ground until this past Friday, then we got about 8 inches in the past 2 days and it turned quite frigid. Historically the second half of meteorological winter is the worst part, and we'll receive 60% of our snow then. At least that's been true to form, at least so far.

Have had several gale force windstorms, though. Just had another last night.

When I get around to it, I'll check ocean temps. The Gulf Stream always causes strange things around here, but this year it's even stranger.

Def warmer than usual, but this afternoon we're supposed to get our FIRST 5-8". Just now! Usually we have snow anywhere from Thanksgiving thu march, but it's been way too warm. We did get ice....I'm still limping from it...

In my childhood, it would snow regularly from November to February.

Normally our temps in January would be highs around freezing or mid-30s with some days in the 20s or teens. Instead until the last few days the temps have been in the 40s.
Although we are getting more normal temps this week, we are not getting snow the way we used to. We had one snow fall in December but nothing since.

almost no shoveling - except for that big 2 foot snowstorm. We had a few inches two or so weeks ago - and nothing else. Some winters, I have been out 2 or 3 times a week clearing off the driveway.

This winter? Just twice so far
