Deadline nears to register in person or by mail to vote

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - People who are hoping to vote in the upcoming November 5 election need to know about several upcoming deadlines.

According to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office the deadline to register in person or by mail to vote is Monday, October 7.

Listed below are other upcoming deadlines:

The deadline to register online through the Geaux Vote Online Registration System is Tuesday, October 15.
The deadline to request an an absentee ballot is Friday, November 1, by 4:30 p.m. Voters can request an absentee ballot online or in writing through their Registrar of Voters office.
The deadline for a registrar of voters to receive an absentee ballot is Monday, November 4, by 4:30 p.m.
Early voting is taking place between Friday, October 18, and Tuesday, October 29. The polls will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day except for on Sundays.
Election day is Tuesday, November 5. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on that day.
