New Orleans man, frustrated over slow trash collection, in custody after threats to shoot mayor

NEW ORLEANS — Police say a New Orleans man frustrated over slow trash collections following Hurricane Ida remained in custody after allegedly threatening the city’s mayor.

A New Orleans Police report says the 59-year-old man was arrested Sunday after he called the city's 911 line and allegedly threatened to shoot the mayor if he could not get trash service - or someone to answer questions.

The man faces a charge of terrorizing. He was being held Tuesday on a $20,000 bond.

Post-storm struggles with trash removal has others concerned. Some New Orleans residents marched Saturday to City Hall, taking their garbage and leaving it outside the building.
