A teenage girl died after she was hit by a train Sunday night, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Officers responded about 9:30 p.m. to Taylorsville Road near the Pope Lick train trestle, spokesman Dwight Mitchell said in a news release.
Two teenage girls were on the train tracks when they were hit by a Norfolk Southern train. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Mitchell said. The other girl was taken to the hospital and was still in serious condition as of 10:30 a.m. Monday, he said.
The LMPD major crimes unit is investigating the incident.
