UghGov. Kim Reynolds designated Thursday, April 9, 2020, as a "Day of Prayer" in response to the spread of COVID-19 in the state. Thursday is the first day of Passover, as well as the Christian holy day of Maundy Thursday.
Connie Ryan, executive director of the Interfaith Alliance of Iowa, issued a statement that said it was inappropriate for the governor's office to issue such a proclamation which only focused on a specific set of religious beliefs and practices.
While many Iowans are people of faith who do pray as part of living out their faith beliefs, it is never the role of elected officials to promote any particular religion or any religious practice," Ryan said, in the statement. "The Governor should focus on the best practices in public health to ensure the safety and well-being of all Iowans, not the practices of any religion. Promoting religious practices is the role of faith leaders, not elected officials.

(38,197 posts)They never stop and they never do anyone any good, except their own pride. For them to claim to be so holier than thou, they sure do embrace pride a lot. They are proud that they publicly and loudly pray, which the Bible ALSO says is a sin and not right too.
They are getting it all wrong. I wish the smarter, more sane, aka liberal Christians would smack them upside the head, mostly figuratively unless it takes more, (if it takes more, I'm agnostic, but I will volunteer if more is needed), and point this shit out to them. Their overly melodramatic public announcement they they are praying and making a spectacle out of themselves is sickening to watch. Their God said pray in private and STFU about it. They need someone to read their Bibles to them for a while until they learn.

(18,470 posts)They're bound and determined to worship the fundie Jeeeeeeeeezus I mentioned earlier even though he has nothing to do with the actual Jesus Christ. Along with that Orange Fuck Face golden calf. At some point people just have to cut their losses and figure out ways to get around these idiots and leave them in the dust.
I have neither the time, energy, or mental health to explain the actual teaching of Jesus Christ to these fucks.

(38,197 posts)They are extremely stubborn and willfully ignorant. You can try to teach them, but they believe what they have been told, without ever checking.

(296 posts)Out of respect for other's religious beliefs, along with a DEEP desire to practice MY religion as I SEE FIT, could you please refrain from making ANY comments about ANYONE'S RELIGIOUS PRACTICES. Your statement today is actually an OFFENSE to some of us with religious beliefs. Leave the religious beliefs to THE PEOPLE n the religious leaders/teachers we each have freely chosen to follow or not! KEEP OUR GOVERNMENT OUT OF MY RELIGION------PERIOD!
