https://blogforiowa.com/2020/02/26/theresa-greenfield-jobs-to-get-done/"I really got into this race for hard work and family. I carry their struggles, their heart, and their effort to earn a living wage and provide for their families and have their American dream. For me it comes from being widowed at the age of 24. My first husband was a lineman for the power company. He was an IBEW member were a union family. I will always stand tall with the unions. Thats for sure. They built the middle class and I dont forget why my lights come on and who delivers my mail. I know those are union jobs.
When Rod died of a work place accident and I became a single mom a 13-month old and another one on the way I wouldnt be here today without Social Security Survivor Benefits and hard-earned union benefits. I didnt get here by myself. I certainly had family and friends and my home town and community.
Today people are struggling. They need leaders that know and appreciate what hard-working families are going through. Thats not what Senator Ernst does. She stands up and goes in line with her large corporate donors and leaves Iowans behind. So I got in the race.
She also talks about wanting to privatize Social Security and cut Medicare and Medicaid. The current Republican budget is very hard on those programs. Ill tell you what. I wouldnt be here without them. So this feisty farm girl, Im getting in the fight."

(50,856 posts)I like her but I just want to get the voting over so we can start kicking Joni's ass. I'm saving a few extra bucks for whomever gets the nomination.

(63,324 posts)Makes me mad that Joni has 3 months of basically campaigning without focused opposition.
However, Joni's backing of Trump is so bad, she won't be able to shake it.

(1,742 posts)After all, they line up to vote FOR the policies that permit nitrates and livestock feces in their own drinking water. And the kingpins among them certainly got their "Trump bump" ("free market," my ass). And of course, her people are all for deregulation and small gubmint--except when it allies to vaginas and poor people proving they need government assistance. They are content with efforts to destroy healthcare protections. Those in these parts are prone to laughing and joking openly and dismissively about Unreality Shitshow 45's "deconstruction of the administrative state," destruction of rule of law, and incessant constitutional crisis. A few proudly sport INFOWARS bumper stickers. The "family values" hypocrites rush to church on Sunday and will not miss a hateful Trump rally; after all, he was sent by God, you know. Finally, those completely devoid of conscience wear red caps, fly blue flags, and hate.
All of them turn out. We will need to do the same.
