Related: About this forumKCRG, carrying the Reynolds water
Yeah, keep carrying the water for Kimmy, KCRG.
In the race for Governor, Kim Reynolds fired off the first attack ad of the general, last week. It took aim at Democrat Fred Hubbell's record leading Younkers.
The TV9 and Gazette Fact Check team put the claims to the test.
While the timeline presented in Reynolds ad is muddy at points, Hubbell was in fact in a position of power during the 1991 closures of the Newton and Spencer stores, and he oversaw the 1985 closure of the Ottumwa location.
But the ads suggestion that Younkers parent company CEO Hubbell personally closed these stores is a reach. Hubbell did, however, receive two pay increases of about $90,000 in the years following both waves of closures. Overall, we give this ad a B.

(18,470 posts)2. They probably got tired of the ongoing Klan rally being held in the comments section
Back when they had comments on articles that pretty much what every last news article devolved in to.

(63,324 posts)3. They are no longer locally owned
They are owned by Gray Television of Atlanta https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_Television.
I wrote them an email concerning the crappy news on their Davenport affiliate and basically got an electronic finger in return.
I don't think there is any local media left in Iowa. When you think consolidated media think far right wing.
