Who is Zach Lahn

And why is he showing up on my television? Talk about a committed magat. This clown is running for Governor using talking points about "illegal immigration", "Liberal educators", and so on. I imagine he's trying to get an endorsement from his idol. I also hope he doesn't get out of the primary and just goes away.

Just a yard sign and this release from the IDP.

White Supremacist Steve King Endorses Zach Lahn for Governor

DES MOINES – Last night, Republican gubernatorial candidate, longtime political insider, and Kansas carpetbagger Zach Lahn accepted the endorsement of disgraced former Congressman and proud, avowed white supremacist Steve King. Lahn praised King as someone who “did the right thing even when it was unpopular,” stays “true to his principles,” and said he is “honored to have [King’s] support,” despite the former Congressman’s decades-long record of promoting hateful views and conspiracy theories.

IDP Chair Rita Hart released the following statement in response:

“Steve King’s tenure in Congress was a national embarrassment for our state. While Iowans turned the page on King’s shameful legacy six years ago, Zach Lahn wants to bring it back and embrace it. Steve King is a proud, avowed white supremacist who has peddled harmful conspiracy theories and used his role in Congress to spew hatred. Is that the ‘heritage’ and ‘culture’ that Lahn wants to see back in Iowa? Iowans want nothing to do with that and will reject Lahn — and King — once again.”

Edited to add:
Frankly I haven't really paid much attention to their candidates. But I have seen a couple of Feenstra mailers where he brags about being a Trump conservative. I mean...WTF? Is that a winning strategy? Linking yourself to one of the least popular presidents in modern history?

Sad to say he will probably get 15 to 20 % of the repugs. Also sad is that front runner Feenstra seems to be ideologically similar to Lahn. Lahn just says stuff out loud. For that matter, all the Repugs are pretty ideologically aligned and in Trump's back pocket.

moved to...last year or the year before. ETA: He moved here officially in 2023

He likes throwing his weight around and pretending he's the most important and pious man in the universe.

He worked for the Kochs until he took up with one of their wives and married her.

He hates public schools with a passion.

He's got a ton of money to throw around and buy himself the governor's mansion.

A clown like that should only be at the Governor's mansion if he is with a tour group. Maybe not even then.

and Rob is a solid choice. He's been elected state wide multiple times, so I'm hopeful.

GOP Gov Candidates Are Bankrolled by Criminals Who Attacked Police Officers
Iowa Democratic Party

A new report from Heartland Signal reveals that two Republican candidates for governor, Zach Lahn and Brad Sherman, are being bankrolled by violent criminals who attacked police officers. According to the report, Lahn and Sherman “received their largest campaign donations from individuals who were later pardoned for their roles in the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot.”

As Heartland Signal reports, Lahn’s largest donor “was arrested by the FBI and charged with several crimes relating to his involvement with the riot at the U.S. Capitol … video evidence showed DeNeui using a flag pole to break into the Capitol and hit a police officer.” Sherman’s largest donor “was one of the first offenders arrested for his actions at the U.S. Capitol, and … was later found guilty of one felony charge of obstruction of an official proceeding and six other misdemeanor offenses.” Lahn and Sherman “did not respond to a request to comment.”

Feenstra has also refused to speak out against letting dangerous rioters who assaulted police officers at the U.S. Capitol back on the street, and even praised these violent criminals as “a wonderful group.” Sherman went as far as calling rioters “patriots.”

From Iowa Democratic Party spokesperson Terra Hernandez:

“Whether it’s fully embracing dangerous criminals who assaulted police officers or refusing to speak out against letting these violent rioters walk free, the Republicans running for governor have proven they can’t be trusted to put public safety and the rule of law over their extreme partisan agenda. If Randy Feenstra, Zach Lahn, and Brad Sherman can’t be trusted to stand up for law and order and stand with law enforcement, why would Iowans trust them with their safety as governor?”
