Polk County Election Office moving to northside of Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Polk County Election Office will be moving to the northside of Des Moines later this year.

A Polk County spokesperson says the new office will be at the River Place building on Euclid Avenue – a building already owned by the county.

They say the current election office on Second Avenue in downtown has some structural problems, while the new location will offer more parking and space for voting stations and check-in windows. It will also have access via both DART bus line and bike trail, according to the spokesperson.

To accommodate the move into the new space, which already houses other county services, an estimated $250,000 to $300,000 will be put into the building through various improvements.
