What's being proposed is an "honorary" renaming of a portion of the street. Chicago has a huge number of these. The honorary name is mounted on a special brown sign, underneath the "official" green street sign. You can learn more about this and see examples at https://www.honorarychicago.com/

If the honorary renaming of Barack Hussein Obama Way actually take place, it will probably be celebrated with a dedication ceremony similar to this one:

Of course the actual address won’t change. I was thinking of the letterhead address, company documents, and branded literature. He will do anything and everything to avoid using that particular street name.

As far as I’m concerned, the street name change can’t happen fast enough.

The sign used for an honorary street name has a special design and is a different color from the "official" street sign, and is mounted below the official street name, to make it clear which is which.

As far as I know, honorary atreet names are not typically used on letterhead, company documents, etc. and could cause confusion about the correct mailing address if they were. That's what I meant when I said the postal address would be unaffected. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

I imagine Trump might file a law suit to try to stop any honorary street renaming, because that's his go-to for anything he doesn't like, lol. But it would almost certainly be laughed out of any Chicago courtroom.
