Illinois reports 10,959 new coronavirus cases; 192 deaths

State health officials reported 192 more deaths from COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the death toll in Illinois to 12,830 and marking the second-deadliest day of the pandemic.

The information from the Illinois Department of Public Health followed Wednesday’s 238 COVID-19-related deaths, the highest number of deaths reported in one day.

Because of a lag in data, deaths reported one day may not necessarily have occurred on that day or the previous day.

The 10,959 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois reported Thursday may represent some data from the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according to Public Health.
