Hawaii
Related: About this forumI'm going to Oahu in November. What should I do and where should I go?
I have to be in Waipahu on the 13th and in Kaneohe on the 15th, but hope to have a couple days to goof around.
I was there last year, twice, and was at Koolau and Kaneohe but didn't go to the nearby botanical gardens.
On another assignment, I've stayed on the North Shore near Waimea Bay.
I like the natural wonders, and to a degree, authentic cultural sites.
Any sugestions?
Mahalo!

(23,864 posts)I'm not being a wet blanket-- I was bitten by one (indoors, second floor) within 45 minutes of arriving from the airport.
I had no idea they got so big!!!!!!!

(23,864 posts)Oahu is gorgeous!!
The ocean is this beautiful turquoise and you can look through the water as you're wading and see the white sandy bottom. Loads of tropical fish-- do you snorkel?
And you can go swimming at 7:00 am-- the water is always warm
You'll have a wonderful time!!

(68,644 posts)And that's because I got sick before arriving and just didn't have the energy to have much fun AND do the work that I went there to do.
But, as ever, it was beautiful. I stayed a few nights at the Marriott Ko Olina Resort and then over to Waikiki. Like night and day, right?
The visit before that I stayed Kane Ohe and Waimai, and then Turtle Bay.
It's all good, I'd never thought to travel there except as a stop over to Maui or the Big Island.
Also, I went to Molokai this summer, in June.
Have you been there?

(68,644 posts)But every time I go to Hawaii I think about living there and know a few people on Hawaii and Kauai.
Not sure which island I'd prefer but off the top of my head I'd say Hawaii.
What do you think, do you live there?

(23,864 posts)and love it.
Interesting, my father went to Cornell before the family moved out here (I wasn't around then). Plus he was born and raised in Ontario. Now that's COLD!!
I can imagine how happy he was to get a job offer from California!!
