Hawaii
Related: About this forumSome very good news in yesterday's primaries in Hawai'i.
Our candidate for US House cd 2 is Jill Tokuda. She is reliably progressive and will be a very good partner with Mazie Hirono and Brian Schatz.
Our candidate for lt gov will be Sylvia Luke, a very skilled and competent legislator who has proven independence and courage. They both have.
Both were opposed by the same baddies who ran extremely nasty carpet bombing campaign ads funded by shadow puppets for the rail lobby. (Our massive $ rail project that is crumbling before it even runs a single passenger, siphoning unimaginable $$$$). Vote Vets ran attack ads with that same old bs, cherry-picking and hyperdrama. Thank goodness it failed or we would have a complete noob with only one very forgettable state house term to his name for experience running for US House and a rail lobbyist for lt gov.
Other good things happened too that I wont get into.
Not all good news- Ikaika Hussey didnt prevail in a city council against a very unpleasant character, to my sorrow.
Ill leave the Govs race to others.

(15,742 posts)Please tell me that Tulsi Gabbard won't peek her head out from her slimy rock ever again.
Some folks here have suggested that she would run for US Senate next time. Ugh.

(19,042 posts)That is to her advantage. Ugh.
Isnt she standing in for some far right winger on Fox?
I dont think she lives here anymore.
She is an excellent example of how we the people people shut our brains off. She was never a democrat but used hot button issues to gather support.
In all fairness though she was the first to raise Red Hill fuels storage leak into out aquifer.
Thats the only positive I can share other than that Im positive shes an agent of a foreign govt.

(15,742 posts)As you said, UGH.
Hawaii has sent some wonderful people to Congress, so there's that.
Let's hope she doesn't "slither" to Washington DC.
